Las Trampas RidgeThis is a great hike with great views of Mt Diablo among other things. It is approximately 4.3 miles and climbs about 1,128'. It passes through oak and bay forest and grasslands on it's way to the peak. Coming back part of your trip will be on the fire road. |
Directions:From I-680 in San Ramon exit Crow Canyon Road westbound 1.2 miles.
Turn right on Bollinger Canyon Road and drive 4.4 miles. Bollinger Canyon road turns left and becomes Rocky Ridge Road. Your destination is about 200' on the left. The Hike:Park in the Las Trampas Ridge parking lot at the end of Bollinger Canyon Road.
Walk back about 500' and cross the street to the start of the Chamise Trail. Follow the Chamise trail uphill 3/4 mile until it connects to the Las Trampas Ridge trail and then go left. The Calaveras Ridge trail goes right. At about 1.25 miles the Corduroy Hills trail cuts off to the right. Continue on the Las Trampas Ridge trail. At the next trail junction go right, then 1/4 mile later go right again. In about 3/4 mile you'll be at the peak. Start back the same way you came in but at the first trail junction, about 3/4 mile, go right instead of left. This is the Bollinger Creek loop trail and it will take you to back to the parking lot. |
