WOW!
A lot of people are sure liking my "Hot Onion Powder", especially the "World's Hottest,"variety.
I'm doing taste-tests on it at my job with customers who like hot foods.
I'm also selling dollar sample packs so people can take a little bit home to experiment with.
I've sold 32 packs this week including 12 so far today.
If this keeps up for a while I'll start trying to produce it commercially.
Below is how I make it so you can too, although most people would rather buy it than make it even if they know how.

Hot Onion Powder
This is the fun stuff, too.
I love playing around with my food.
I always have.
I just never got enough time when I was younger, due to other concerns in life getting in the way.
But the last few years here, I've finally gotten the chance to really play around some.
A couple years back, I wanted some kind of cool homemade sprinkle-spice, made with Ghost Peppers.
Obviously, I'd have to make it myself so I could get what I wanted, right?
So I bought some Ghost Peppers to play with, and some onion powder, garlic powder, and other stuff.
I researched what was in the spices I did like, and then I made this spice.
YUCK!
It came out horrible!
Well, when I tasted the onion and garlic powders, they were the problem.
So, I decided to make my own.
I've made a bunch of assorted sprinkle-spices since then, but this Hot Onion Powder, is one of my favorites!
It's great straight, (sprinkle it on your burgers, etc...) or use it as an ingredient in soups stews, taco's and burrito's, or any food that can use onions and spice.
It's also the base for some of my best other sprinkle-spices.
There's no salt, so you can add the correct amount for your personal tastes, because that really is different for each person.

Jou's Hot Onion Powder
Ingredients:
White Onions*
Habanero's - one per onion, (more if you want it hotter.)
Chop and liquefy White onions in a blender, along with however many Habanero's you feel comfortable using.
I recommend starting with 1 per onion, minimum, unless you like it hotter.
Make 2 cups of liquid.
Do not add anything else at this time.
Experiment later.
Pour into your dehydrator tray and dry until mildly crispy.
I have the dehydrator below, but I basically go for about 12 hours at 135 degrees, and check it.
I do more time if necessary.
When it snaps easily, toss into your blender again and carefully powder it.
Be gentle. Do it slowly or you will get an extremely fine powder. You want something slightly coarser grained.
You may now use it.
First, I recommend, 1/4 tsp, straight into your mouth.
It will be hot, but try to not drink any liquid.
It will peak out and you should be just fine.
Plus, now you know exactly what you're dealing with.
It's great!
When used as a straight sprinkle, such as on a taco or hamburger, it will be fine.
However, it is also strong enough to use in soups and stews, or wherever else you need it.
Some people have used it and loved it on popcorn or even salads, although personally, I want something with a little more body to it than that.
Go wild!
And let me know how you like it.

It's a lot of work to make this much by hand!
