A quick drive from Half Moon Bay to the Golden Gate Bridge one day
Saturday, 8/24/2013
I drove over to Half Moon Bay after work, (traffic was insane despite being Saturday after 4 pm,) then went up the coast.
It got better along the coast, because it kept moving, although there was still a lot of traffic.
I went through the new Tom Lantos Tunnel, (the Devils Slide Tunnel.)
The old road is no longer open.
Then, I went through SF, and stopped at the Sports Basement by Crissy Field to pick up my Weekend Sherpa Adventure Challenge shirt.
I got some decent photos there and then went across the bridge to Marin to check out KIRBY Cove.
Circle under the freeway at Alexander Ave, (the first exit is a vista point, not an exit.)
Stop at the first or second, (either,) parking areas and you'll see the dirt road going down to Kirby Cove.
There is also camping there, although I haven't seen it yet.
I didn't make is since there was hardly enough parking to double-park for a moment and get a couple photos.
I'm going back soon to check it out better.
Nevertheless, the Tom Lantos Tunnel:

The Exploratorium
Looking above Crissy Field towards downtown gives an excellent view of the Exploratorium
The (Unopened) New Span of the Bay Bridge, and Fort Mason
This is a pretty good shot, especially since I'm photographing it from miles away Crissy Field!

The Golden Gate Bridge
Up above Kirby Cove, looking across the GG Bridge and seeing the fog come in over San Francisco.
It just rolls in in a wave, usually, just like you see it.
Usually, its hard to show it very well; since it's such a solid wall it's featureless.
This time I'm across the channel in Marin watching it roll in from the ocean, (to the right,) and just cover everything in its path.
It's great to be able to show it.
