Castle Rock

An excellent hike, we loved it.
It's only 6.25 miles the way we did it, and only about 1,231' elevation gain, but the rocks are wonderful!
This one below has a sculptured interior with oval shelves and a sleeping loft!
Sorry, but I didn't carry a camera up there.
Slipping and breaking my leg wasn't on my itinerary.
I know.
I checked.

I've really got to get this stuff caught up.
It's just that there's so much to do with so little time.
And then I have to make a choice: "Do I organize and post, or do I go for another hike?"
Nevertheless, I have to start getting this stuff caught up.
I'll probably make a real good effort sometime after I come back from Yosemite.
Before then, well, I really need to start working out better.
I've only got a month now to get ready.

A little further on we come this cable and stairs.
Similar to Yosemite except only about 10' elevation gain here!
Cool, though.

There were lots of cool overlooks, even an overlook over a waterfall, (sorry, no water right now.)
At one vista point, if it had been clearer, you could have seen Monterey.
They even had decent signs there showing you what to look for.
We could see where Eagle Rock should be, just behind one ridge and so not quite visible from here.
Too bad.
We were there just a couple weeks ago.
Would have been cool to be able to see it.

We even did a little bouldering along the way.
Our first!
Starting with the Fred Flintstone cave shown above.
We had to crawl across this risky ledge to get there, hanging onto holes in the rock, (and listening to the hollow sound of the loose flake!)
We also did some other rocks later in the trip.
Sure sounds like something interesting to learn for the Bucket List!

All in all, an excellent day.
