I'll bet I broke 100 now!!!

Well,l I took a couple lazy days, but even so I got more done between my last post and now.
I haven't counted them but I'll bet I'm up to 105 pages, at least.
I've got some really cool new pages up, and more to come!

You like Bacon?
I've got "Bakin' Bacon".

Speaking of Bacon, I've got my cornbread muffin pages started.
How about Honey-Bacon Cornbread Muffins?
You ever eat those?

WAIT!
What if that's not enough and I decide to add cheese?
Or how about Maple instead of Honey?
How do they compare?

Tell me...
How do do you think these would compare?

Honey-Bacon Cornbread Muffins with Cheddar Cheese,
vs.
Maple-Bacon Cornbread Muffins, with Pepper-Jack Cheese?

I had to know so I made them both at the same time to find out!
Wouldn't you like to know?
Pic's and recipes will soon be up for these.

And I've got so many other pages!

Just since the first of the year I've posted 29 new pages and new material on 5 more!
Check out the Cars that I've smogged!
I limited this to mostly the Ferrari's, Maserati's, Lamborghini's, and other exotics.

I've got Pinnacles High Peaks up, and the Asian Art Museum, Berry Creek Falls, (finally!) Clouds Rest, and even Flag Hill, (possibly the BEST "First Hike" around the area,) plus a whole lot more!
I've even got an idea for another style of pages.
I want to do some teaching stuff, and computer security.
Computer Security is always important!

Now, how ya gonna beat that?
Stick around for the show.

I can't count for shit!

The other day I counted 97 pages, but that's wrong!
I counted wrong because of the way I've got them organized.
I accidentally counted all the Superhero pages twice, (plus a couple of others,) so I probably only had about 90 pages.
However, I've got 98 pages now, so I'm good.
Only two more to break 100.

Even 90 pages is awesome!
Do you have any idea just how much work is involved in making one page?
Not counting the hike itself and taking the photos, you then have to sort through hundreds, (or more!) photos to figure out which ones you'll use.
Then you have to sort through them several more times to make sure you have enough diversity, and not too many that are alike.
Then you finally start posting them, (each photo can take a minute to load,) and writing blurbs to go with them.

So, all-in-all, it's a real lot of work and a real lot of time.
However, once you're done you've got something to be proud of, something possibly even harder than the hike itself.
Definitly something longer lasting than the hike.

If you like what you see, spread it around.
Thanks, muchly,
Jou Baur

WOW! I've just looked and I've got 97 pages posted!

That even impresses me!

These are not all recent.
Some of these pages have been here for years, but I've posted 20 pages just since the first of the year!
Some of those pages are very long!
My Tomales Point pictures page is quite long, for instance.
WAY more than 20 pictures!
It is actually one of the longest pages of all, but what a page!

You ever seen a White Thistle, for example?
I've got several pictures of this rare example.
They only grow, (that I'm aware of,) out on the Tomales Point hike.
I think that it only grows there because of the salt air, the water, or the ground.
If you take one home and plant it in regular ground, it turns green, just like the ones you're used to.
This is NOT a one-off!
There are a lot of them there although I've never seen any anywhere else.

I also love the webbing.
That's NOT spider webs!
The plant produces that.
Our guess is that that is for water.
There is NO GROUND WATER out here.
Only fog, or salt spray.

Well, hope you enjoy yourself.

10th of January and I've had a pretty good 10 days.
I've got a lot of new, (old,) stuff pubished for you.
I mean a lot!

I've got up new hiking pages about the 4-Mile Trail in Yosemite, the Asian Art Museum, and Alamere Falls.
I've got the Berry Creek Falls hiking pages up, and the pages about Eagle Rock Lookout, the fire lookout in Big Basin.
Flag Hill, which I rate as a "Best First Hike," the Labyrinth at Lands End, Pinnacles, "JUMP!", Cool Cars, and my New Years video, "I Double-Dare you!"

And that's only the hiking pages!!!

Under the photo pages I've got the Asian Art Museum again, Berry Creek Falls again, and a whole new page called "Favorites" where I'll post my favorite photos, even if they're posted elsewhere.
Pinnacles, "Pissed-Off Pete,"  "T-Birds and 'Vette's" and more material round out the photo pages for now, but hell, we're only 10 days into the month.

Some pages, like the Berry Creek Falls pages with the small photos, are meant to be temperary.
I put that together a long time ago and didn't like it so I never posted it. I decided it's better to post it for now and rebuild it later than to leave it blank.

AND, this Sunday I've got a friend trying to rescue some older material from a dead hard drive for me.
Let's all wish him luck!

Happy New Year,

3 Days Later and still lots of rain...cool.

Here it is 3 days later and it's still raining out.
Man that is so cool!
We haven't had much rain the last 5 years, but we seem to be getting some now.
Which is actually perfect for me.
I'm getting lots of posting done.
Of course, not having rain is not an excuse for not getting any work done.

I've got even more new pages up and more new material on some of the old pages.
I'm reworking the design somewhat.
I like the bigger pictures better than the little ones.
However, I'm finally loading some of the pages that I built but never finished or published.
I kept meaning to finish them but wasn't satisfied with them so I never got around to it.
Might as well load them partly finished instead of not at all, right?
Never going to get everything perfect.
Life doesn't work like that.

I'm kinda handicapped by not having my photos with me at work, where I've often got the time to do something with them.
That makes it pretty frustrating.
However, I broke down and got a couple 32GB USB sticks and loaded them up with just a few photo's to work with.
I mean, that's only 64 GB's total.
That's nothing compared to what I've got at home.
But it's something.

God, I'm gonna have to do something really good when this lets up.
Maybe the Matt Davis / Steep Ravine loop on Mt. Tam or the Berry Creek Falls trail in Big Basin.
Something with lots of greenery and waterfalls since we've had all this rain.
Start getting ready for summer.

I've already got my big summer hike permits.
Go in for 4 days on June 2nd from the valley and do both Half Dome and Clouds Rest.
Pretty big for me.
Even bigger for Doug.
But before then...

I think this is the year I finish the Yosemite Falls trail.
Early spring when it's really flowing.
Probably one of those "It's 2 am and its Saturday" trips.
I could be home before midnight.
AND, that would leave me Sunday to sleep in and rest.

I would also like to check out Tenaya Lake early while the snowmelt is still flowing.
I want to see how deep it is.
When I applied for my permits this year the rangers discouraged me from going in at Tenaya lake at the beginning of June.
They said the snow melt could be as much as chest deep at the crossing.
Below waist deep, OK.
Chest deep, no thanks.
Especially not snow melt.
That shit's cold.

Then again...

Anyway, I'm outta here.
Get out and hike and enjoy yourself.
And best of luck!

New Material!

The last few days I've been putting up new material, a lot of it.
Some of it's actually quite old, but it hasn't been posted up until now.

Lots of whole new pages and lots of new material on some of the previously published pages.
I'm trying to label it all so you can find it easily.
I've got lots more to go, too.

In fact, if I spend the next week or two working on it I'll make a dent in it.
Thousands upon thousands of pictures to sort through in order to find just the perfect ones to share with you.
Hundreds upon hundreds of videos clips to watch in order to find just the perfect moments for you.
Hours upon hours of editing those cliips into something worth watching.

<SIGH>

I'd much reather be out hiking!
But if I don't post it, you can't use it... and it's raining out.
I might as well get 'er done, right?
Sure hope you enjoy them.

Flag Hill in Sunol

Yepper, that's right, I finally put up some new pages.
Try the Flag Hill pages under photo's and under hikes.
The hikes page tells you about the hike and the photo's page has lots more photo's.

I spent the morning digging through photo's and building the pages.
I've got to get through a LOT more stuff if I want to EVER get caught up!
I've got stuff dating back for YEARS that I haven't posted.

I'm trying a slightly new style which should make it simpler for me.
I'm not going to post whole new pages every single time I do a hike.
I'll add to the page that's already up.
It will have pics from multiple different times I've done that hike with different people and different weather.
Like when I've done Berry Creek Falls with Jerry, with Keith, and with Doug.
Three different trips, but all Berry Creek Falls.

I'm going to try to get more posted and catch up some.
I wanted to do more, (LOTS more,) with my New Years video, but I felt it was more important to just get it up New Years Day!
Nothing will ever be perfect or complete, just a work in progress.
But that's life, isn't it?

Next I'm going to work on the Berry Creek Falls pages, I think.
Consolidate them into one page.
I've been lots of times!
It's my favorite big hike near home!
Even during the drought years I've never seen it dry.
I've got lots of cool pics of it during those differeent times.

Well, wish me luck with this.
I'd like to clean up some of this backlog before I do my big hike this summer.
I'm going to try again for Half Dome and Clouds Rest both in the same hike.
I've got 4 nights this summer.
I go in June 2nd.
Hope to see you there!
